Birds of Paradise

For the last three years, I have been a "parront", a foster parent for rescued parrots. Parrots are amazing animals with the intelligence of a three-year old human but the emotional level of a two-year old. They are gorgeous and usually very companionable. But unlike dogs and cats, they are not really domesticated. They have not lived with humans for thousands of years, but only in the last few hundred and even then not in the same way.

It has given me a new understanding and appreciation, not only of parrots but of the many birds of the rainforest and jungle.

One of my fellow parronts forwarded this video, not of parrots but of the many unique birds of New Guinea.
